Understanding the properties of materials is an important part of Visual Arts. Part 2 - Fairy Hotel30/11/2015 Sabaidee, Grade 1!
We decided to test how materials work in the elements. After learning about the Fairies from Midsummer Night's Dream, many of you wanted to see if you could catch some of those elusive creatures by creating a Fairy Hotel, equipped with swings, lovely guest rooms and even a swimming pool! We crafted false windows from old dvd cases and painted beautiful scenes of the inside of the Fairy Hotel rooms. As a group, you decided that the windows, most importantly the paper the paintings were on, were not safe and sturdy materials for outdoor weather. Then it was time to create a solution! One of you brought in an old umbrella and we set the task to make it visually pleasing. After hours of painting and creating finger knitted tassels, our creation was complete! Unfortunately, the fairies did not make their presence known. No worries there...we just made our own!! Oops, my poet slipped out... Check out your artwork in the Gallery! What fun! :0)Ms Angie

Angie AndreasWith a career spanning 25 years, I have worked alongside children from infancy to 9th grade in a generalist classroom setting. To my delight and surprise, an opportunity arose for me to become an art teacher in 2015. My first year was a learning experience and I expect that will be the case with all the years to follow.
