BLOG EXHIBITION DATE 2017
Wow, Grade 5!
It is nearly Exhibition time and your ideas are flowing. You were challenged to create a final artwork to exemplify who you are and where your interests lie. You did not disappoint! From Da Vinci to O'Keeffe to Dali, your passions took you once again across time and place. For this project, you had to research, reflect and respond. You were required to organize yourself and collect the materials you needed to proceed. You selected your subject matter and set goals for when you thought each step of the process would be completed. Some of you came in during breaks and lunch times to make sure the finished product was successful and completed in a timely manner. It was wonderful to see your passions being carried over into some of your inquires for the Exhibition as well. Sharing your artwork with the community was a highlight of my year. I wish you all, all the best for your next journey into the Secondary School. You will surely impress them with your keen interest in the world around you and your ability to communicate your ideas. Check out the art here! You will be missed! :0)Ms Angie

Dear Grade 5,
Ms Missy, our Librarian, asked if we could make a reversible sign for 'Recommended Reads' and 'New Books' for one of the Library displays. Your keenness to help was impressive! We explored a variety of fonts and designed several prototypes for how the signs could look. There were so many ideas floating around that we found it was difficult to finalize a design. Instead of bringing many letter types together to make the signs, we went with one student's idea to have rainbow letters and then transformed that idea into the final signs which can be seen in the gallery. In the end, Ms Missy and the Library team happily welcomed the new signage to the space. Check out the art here! Lovely work, Grade 5! :0) Ms Angie Dear Grade 5,
You have arrived to your final year in the Primary School. This will be the year you take on Exhibition and continue to follow your passions to develop a greater understanding on our world. For your first Visual Arts project this year, we connected with your homeroom unit of inquiry on Peace and Conflict. As before, we decided to have individual projects using a variety of materials. From sculptures to paintings to carvings, each of you expressed an idea you wanted to communicate about the concept of peace. Your ideas were varied and your methods, vast. Check out the Gallery page to see all of the meaningful beauty you created! Check out the art here! :0)Ms Angie Hey Grade 4!
Mr Somphong and I decided to let loose of the reigns and to see where you all would take us. No regrets! Your freedom could have led to hours of time wasted with few positive outcomes. We trusted you and you impressed us with your curiosity, creativity and productivity. With artists from around the globe and throughout time, your projects demonstrated links to your personal interests and individual styles. It is clear you are ready to transition into the greater independence that Grade 5 has in store for you! Looking forward to seeing what comes next! Check out the art here! :0)Ms Angie Hey Grade 4!
As part of our Primary-wide study of the artist, Leonardo Da Vinci, you all inquired into his many inventions. We looked at Da Vinci as an innovator and explored and became inspired by his unique perspective and skills of observation. Da Vinci was taken by the way that animal and plant life could have mastery over the elements and how the idea of 'work' could be lessened through the manipulation of matter. http://www.da-vinci-inventions.com/ He used the turtle as a model for the tank and shells as the model for staircases. He was observant and keen to create so many different, useful inventions that actually changed history over time. You all had time to research his inventions and to create an artwork that was inspired by his thinking. Your imaginations and the connections you made throughout the unit were impressive. I enjoyed every minute of it! Check out the art here! :0)Ms Angie |
Angie AndreasWith a career spanning 25 years, I have worked alongside children from infancy to 9th grade in a generalist classroom setting. To my delight and surprise, an opportunity arose for me to become an art teacher in 2015. My first year was a learning experience and I expect that will be the case with all the years to follow.
