Hello Prep!
You did heaps of research about your families and learned about how you were influenced by your parents and grandparents. To reflect this learning, you created a Family Tree. As a year group, you had so many ideas of how you wanted to express your connections to the past. Some of you painted pictures, some of you used branches from trees, some of you made mobiles and some of you did wire sculptures. When I displayed your work in the front office, Ms Jane and all the Administrative staff were so happy to see what beautiful creations you made. I felt excited to share your art with the community. Check out your artwork in the Gallery! :0)Ms A Hello Preps!
The entire Primary school has been learning alongside you. Leonardo da Vinci was such a versatile artist and innovator. His work and studies span the entirety of our Program of Inquiry. He was an inventor and explorer, a scientist, painter and sculptor. Enjoy! :0)Ms Angie As stated in Biography.com: Born on April 15, 1452, in Vinci, Italy, Leonardo da Vinci was the epitome of a “Renaissance man.” Possessor of a curious mind and keen intellect, da Vinci studied the laws of science and nature, which greatly informed his work as a painter, sculptor, architect, inventor, military engineer and draftsman. His ideas and body of work—which includes "Virgin of the Rocks," "The Last Supper" and "Mona Lisa"—have influenced countless artists and made da Vinci a leading light of the Italian Renaissance. Follow this link to the full bio and a short video. http://www.biography.com/people/leonardo-da-vinci-40396 As a reflection of our inquiry, the whole primary school came together to create a beautiful paper mosaic to honor his influence and accomplishments. I was impressed with your abilities to capture yourselves in a self-portrait. Check out your artwork in the Gallery! :0)Ms A Hello Preps,
You have jumped in head first to learning about the Elements of Art and about how artists use these elements to create meaningful visual messages. You have inquired into Line, Color, Texture, Shape, Form and Space. Using all of these concepts, you collaborated to make Mr Glenn a fantastic weaving! Each square was made with a partner. Then you tried out lots of ideas to see how we could put our squares together. After a long discussion, it was decided that we make two beautiful flowers. We sewed the flowers onto a screen covered with blue fabric and everyone signed the back. Now that we have made a gift for Mr Glenn using the elements of art, we can start to learn about the other artists from around the world and throughout history! Scroll down to check out Mr Glenn's cool present from Prep in the Gallery! :0)Ms A Hello Prep,

Angie AndreasWith a career spanning 25 years, I have worked alongside children from infancy to 9th grade in a generalist classroom setting. To my delight and surprise, an opportunity arose for me to become an art teacher in 2015. My first year was a learning experience and I expect that will be the case with all the years to follow.
