Dear Grade 1, We have been having so much fun making claims, proposing evidence, and testing our ideas. I could not imagine what we came up with to find out how sound and light can change our artistic experiences. To test our ideas, we listened to a variety of sounds from jungle noises to rock and roll! This had a big effect on what you decided to draw and paint. It was fun to watch you create. You all listened to different music first and compared your pictures. The next experiences involved you painting while listening to soft jazz and then pop rock. I wonder if you can tell the difference between your paintings! Our next test was to take light away from your arts experience and 'see' how that effected things. Luckily, we had partners to help out as you tried to find the paint and your papers. It was very dark in the room, plus everyone was wearing blindfolds! I think laughing was the loudest sound we could hear at this point. Check out our process in the slideshow below and our final products in the gallery. Still to come...our no light paintings. :0)Ms Angie

Angie AndreasWith a career spanning 25 years, I have worked alongside children from infancy to 9th grade in a generalist classroom setting. To my delight and surprise, an opportunity arose for me to become an art teacher in 2015. My first year was a learning experience and I expect that will be the case with all the years to follow.
