Feelings...the good, the bad and the snuggly!

Hello Preps,

You just finished your Feeling Finger Puppets.  I loved hearing your voices change and seeing you act out your understanding of so many different feelings. You are really becoming aware of yourselves and others. This will help you so much in relationships with your friends.

You also learned about ways people can connect materials and how the elements of art can communicate BIG IDEAS like feelings. During this latest project you learned how to sew! What fun! You were so safe and no one even pricked a finger. I felt quite impressed. You used color to connect with emotions. For instance, many of you chose to use red to express an angry felling. Some of you used shape as a way to express feelings. You turned frown shapes upside down to make a smiley face that represented joy or happiness.

Check out those adorable puppets in the Gallery!

With a career spanning 25 years, I have worked alongside children from infancy to 9th grade in a generalist classroom setting. To my delight and surprise, an opportunity arose for me to become an art teacher in 2015. My first year was a learning experience and I expect that will be the case with all the years to follow.
