Hiya, Prep!
Leading up to your Arts Celebration, you focused on ENVIRONMENTS. We thought about environments in so many ways. We thought about settings in stories, the classroom, the visual arts room, the playground, animal habitats, and homes. What do we do in these places? How are they different from one another? How are they the same? To discover more about environments, we decided to explore and create artworks that enhance environments or provide a setting. In your classrooms we created beautiful trees set aside to give children a place to go and feel calm. We made decorations that waved in the wind behind the band at our Arts Celebration, and are now making a puppet theater! Such great learning and passionate commitment…fantastic! :0)Ms Angie

Dear Prep, Grade 1, and Grade 2,
I like to call you all the ‘Bubble Crew’. Your experience with Mr Alex Face was short and sweet. You provided the bubble effect for our Sea of Graffiti by the pool. Now Baby Rabbit has a wonderful place to swim and frolic! Love your work, :0)Ms Angie Well, well, well, Prep!
You have learned heaps about life cycles! Inquiring into life on Earth gave you a deeper understanding of how the world works. In your homeroom learning, you found that there are lots of way to think about science. We took one of those ideas and used it to create wheels of wonder! Your life cycles are so cool…they even spin!!! Watching you research and create was a pleasure. Check out the artwork in your gallery. Keep up the great work! :0)Ms Angie Hello, Preps! Wow! What a challenging experience...you were being metacognitive for sure. This word is huge and hard to pronounce but very well describes your thinking about your thinking! You designed game boards with the intent to teach something to someone. You thought about how old the players would be, what they might learn and why they would want to play. thinking about learning through play was inspiring and resulted in some very eye-catching paintings. See the process below and click here. to see the final products. Well done, Prep!! :0)Ms Angie Hello, Preps!
Your flowers are an excellent addition to the mosaic mural. Your thoughtfulness and care can be seen in your efforts. Now each one of you will know for the rest of your time here at VIS, and long after that, your pretty petals will be there to remind you of how we all worked together to achieve our goal. Check out those beautiful flowers!!!! To see close ups, visit the gallery. :0)Ms A Dear Preps, After lots of practise, you all have put together your DRAFT mosaic flower for our mural. Every grade level is contributing at least one part of the project. Your flowers are so pretty and colorful. WE are getting closer to the big day! Stay focused and make sure your body is listening to your brain...all will be well. :0)Ms Angie Dear Prep,
You all are learning so much about the Elements of Art! We inquired into SPACE recently. It is amazing how space matters so much. A cloud shape on top of a rectangle looks like a tree, in the sky, looks like a cloud and by the door of a house, looks like a bush! We had a lot of fun thinking about this concept. When you did your paper mosaics, you had to think about spacing A LOT! Each tile needs to be spaced carefully for our ceramic mosaic...not too far apart, not too close...just right! Your paper mosaics can be seen in the gallery. Great learning!! :0)Ms Angie Welcome new Preps!!
You are a bubbly lot of creativity! I am impressed with your confidence and eagerness to share your ideas. We had a great time creating little animals that you thought represented characteristics of yourselves. Here are some of the things you said... I am like a mosquito because I like to eat people! I am like a bunny because I like to jump around. I am like a cheetah because I can run so fast. I am like a dragon because I am very sneaky. I am like a fish because I love to swim. I am excited like a happy puppy because I will get to know so much more about each of you in the years to come!!! Scroll down to check out the artwork here! :0)Ms Angie |
Angie AndreasWith a career spanning 25 years, I have worked alongside children from infancy to 9th grade in a generalist classroom setting. To my delight and surprise, an opportunity arose for me to become an art teacher in 2015. My first year was a learning experience and I expect that will be the case with all the years to follow.
